The Challenge
The primary objective of the side extension was to create an open-plan kitchen and dining area, establishing a vibrant central hub for the family. Given the proximity to neighbouring properties, maintaining privacy was a critical aspect of the design. Additionally, the project scope included the installation of a utility room, three new bathrooms, and the full renovation of the remaining spaces within the house.
The Solution
Our design solution involved incorporating a structural glass roof over the side extension, allowing natural light to flood into the living space while ensuring privacy with no side windows. By lifting the supporting steel beams flush into the ceiling, we eliminated the need for downstands, preventing unwanted shadows.
We designed, manufactured, and installed a contemporary shaker-style kitchen, accompanied by a cosy snug area adjacent to the kitchen, making this the true heart of the home. In addition to the structural work, we carried out a full electrical rewire and installed new plumbing and heating systems, including a wet underfloor heating system for the ground floor. The project also included the design, supply, and installation of new, modern bathrooms to complete the renovation.
