The Brief

Garden rooms to include pool house & changing/gym/art studio, Leigh Woods

The property owners had recently obtained permission for a new rear extension and outdoor pool. However, during the process they realised there was an opportunity to design and build themselves a bespoke pool house to accompany this and approached Nest to undertake the work for them. The brief then extended to include a changing room/WC, an exercise space and art studio, to all be housed within a bespoke timber clad garden structure.

The Challenge

The main challenge surrounding the project was ensuring that the different spaces functioned correctly in a relatively constrained space. The client’s wanted to accomplish a lot without sacrificing too much garden, and at the same time provide something attractive, highly usable and flexible. Something that truly enhanced their home. A lot of care went into not just how the building looked, but also into the position, proportion, and function of the spaces relative to each other. Additional attention was placed in capturing key garden views and providing a more private and sheltered entrance ‘courtyard’.

The Solution

Our strategy was to test and review everything the clients hoped to achieve, and carefully work out a strategy we knew delivered the best value possible within the restricted space. Through the use of interactive 3D visualisation, we were able to test a number of potential options and squeeze out every inch of usable space.
