The Brief

Kitchen/dining/living renovation in Long Ashton, Bristol

The clients came to us having lived in the property for 2 years wanting a more open plan layout on the ground floor to house a new kitchen/dining/living space. We guided them through layout options including the re-allocation of spaces to create an open-plan layout without unnecessary structural works.

The Challenge

The existing kitchen was located in a dark part of the house with poor light quality following a previous rear extension. The plan agreed on was to relocate the kitchen to a currently underutilised space to create a large open plan kitchen/dining/living space with direct access to the garden through a new set of bifold doors. The existing snug off the new kitchen dining space was updated including the installation of a new picture window.

The Solution

By relocating the kitchen into an underutilised space & renovating their existing extension including the insertion of a structural steel to create an enlarged dining/snug space we were able to create a connected kitchen/dining/living space with a seamless transition into the garden.

The existing chimney was hidden rather than removed to create a better connection between the kitchen & new dining space in addition to saving on the cost of removing the chimney. A contemporary kitchen was designed, manufactured and installed along with a set of bifold doors.
