Our ethos is to build you the best house you can afford and not necessarily the biggest, so wants and needs are carefully considered to make sure the balance is stuck to provide you with good functional, connected spaces that work seamlessly with the outside to maximise light, views and access to the garden. With the completion of 80 projects per year, we have a strong sense of specification costs and will always work to achieve a balance between design aspiration and your budget.
The Design
Due to the nature of much of the housing stock in Bristol, extensions must be considered carefully due to the proximity to other properties and the impact extending can have on the overall balance of the built environment on the plot. Good design isn’t just about how something looks. Functionality is a crucial starting point for us, making sure that the finished extension works in harmony with how you live and spend time in the space. We take time to consider the space as a whole and make sure we have considered how to maximise light during different parts of the day, a considered space for entertaining in addition to capturing views and designing openings to the outside.
The Process
We follow the same process as with a house renovation with a key focus on making sure that every part of the existing footprint is being utilised prior to considering an extension. If the outcome of this process, taking account of budgetary factors, is to design and fulfil an extension either in isolation or as part of a wider house renovation, then we offer a complete design and build service, from pre-planning and planning advice and submissions, including listed consent, through to the development of a full project plan and product specification. From here, we will complete the necessary structural calculations and drawings before fully project managing the build, taking care of all the details whilst always being utterly transparent about the costings.
